A couple of years ago the jumpsuit trend reemerged in full
force, crossing all red lights of fashion rules as they still remain a must up
to these days, but what is it with women and onesies?! The latest trend falls
under this same category, this time in the shape of overalls. By definition, loose-fitting
trousers, usually of strong fabric, with a bib front and shoulder straps, often
worn over regular clothing as protection from dirt. Sounds sexy, right? Well, it’s a
women’s favorite and a man repeller as
our fellow blogger Leandra Medine would say, but if you do it right even a men
can see the attractiveness behind all the bagginess.
They come in all shapes and forms, whether as the long baggy
pants as they were first introduced, as a skinny sexier version of that, as
shorts or even skirts. In plain denim or embellished denim, colored denim or
ripped denim, you name it you can find it. So what are the secrets to wearing
this item and making it a fashion statement rather than a no-no that’s so 80s
(as in the part of the 80s that should never be repeated). We’ll break it down
for you in three ways to successfully wear these and not feel like a little
kid.
- Pair them with heels. Wedges by day, stilettos by night.
- Roll'em at the bottom, just like you do with your boyfriend jeans.
- Wear it either with a feminine blouse or a cropped top - remember you're still a lady!
