SS'12 NY - September 11th

DEREK LAM
Having Palm Springs as an inspiration this collection was very wearable. Future made with retro in mind.

DIANE VON FUSTENBERG
A beautiful note on this show, is that at the end when the designer came for her bow she handed out american flags in memory of 9/11. This collection had amazing color coordination, I especially loved the three colors used on the two first looks above. There were also this dress that looks one above the other made in many different colors and fabrics (last one of the sequence).

DKNY
We all know DKNY is known for it's young flavorness. This collection was no expection, presenting a comfortable yet chic and breeze spring collection that we could already see all the city girls strouting through the town.

EDUN
Africa came to NYC. Not to dramatic but if you look closely you can see the subtle details. Yup, you're right! I can see them again long shorts peeking out of that dress  in the second outfit ...

JEN KAO
A lot of creativeness in this show. I guess it's not visible in the looks I'm showing you but the desginer worked Paper-Cut Designers in some origamilike head pieces. A very fun and easy collection that most girls will find appealing.

JIL SANDER NAVY
Jil Sander Navy is the lowest price line of the designer. Scouties you can start looking for your new uniform the designer had you guys in mind!

LELA ROSE
Beautiful romantic dresses and gown were the high of this collection.

THAKOON
Woohoo and the cowgirls are in town. This was not my favorite collection from Thakoon but there were still some pieces that I wouldn't mind (and I do really mean that) to have in my closet!

TOMMY HILFIGER
Tough I wasnt head over heals with this collection either, I was actually in love with some of it. The shirt dresses and the jumpsuits were just lovely.

ZAC POSEN
Vavavun! The Zac Posen women this spring will be even more sexy and glamorous than it was last year. Beautiful garmits that made me reminde of the hollywood old glamour.

SS'12 NY - September 10th

ADAM
Adam offered for next spring/summer a very fresh, feminine and romantic collection. One more time we could see the continuous trends: one colored look & pajamas. The printed pants were also a part of the show, as well as the boyish meets girly looks.

ALEXANDER WANG
A very fururistic collection from Mr. Wang himself. He played fith geometric and floral prints, shapes and even with textures. It was very urban and I bet all the cool girls have a lot of these pieces on their top wanted list.

ALTUZARRA
Altuzarra was probably one of the collection's that the public was antecipated the most, since the success on FW11. It certainly was very different, the huge floral prints were a big part of this collection. It was futuristic and again a bit girl meets boy kinf of look.

BAND OF OUTSIDERS
Get your clothes for the Picninc in the Parl and let's go!

CHARLOTTE RONSON
Ok. So this collection was a mix in my head, I liked a lot of the outfits but others.... not so much.  I loved the use of denim and the "underwear" as clothes, it was very fresh and girly with the vintafe flair attached to it.

CHRISTIAN SIRIANO
A very lady-like collection. Modern yet romantic and even urban. The glamorous long length skirts paired with t-shirts, to me were just brilliantly done. I'm sold!

HELMUT LANG
Keeping it real, the designers presented a collection for SS of what their best at. A cool, urban, comfortable, drapped collection.

LACOSTE
This is the first collection for Felipe Oliveira Baptista (yeeih a portuguese designer) for Lacoste. the sporty vibe of the brand was kept and it was merged with a urban, chic look. Of course my opinion will always be a bit bias, but I think this was the beginnig of a long partnership.

LYN DEVON
This was a surprise. I din't know of Lyn Devon, but I really really liked the collection. It was very simple, not much innovation to it. But the pieces were beautifully done and styled to perfection in a very classic way. And I'm in love with the first two dresses/shorts thing, I actually don't know what to call that... but I desperately want one!

PRABAL GURUN
Prabal's collection just came to reafirme the emerging trends: sheer fabrics, dresses over trouseres, mix of textures, vibrant colors, printed pants and bottom up shirts. No! It was not all in one outfit, but through out the 39 looks shown.

VIVIENNE TAM
Lovely collection. Boy meets girl and yet so romantic. I think the man repeller trend is coming to catch us, and I don't mind at all. Pajamas, printed pants, print blocking, monochromatic looks. Yup!

SS'12 NY - September 9th

BILLY REID
This collection reminded me of the country side, the pieces and the styling were so layd back like there's not much thought into it. But there certainly is and I absolutely bought it.

COSTELLO TAGLIAPIETRA
Drapping, envelope-dresses, print blocking and pants bellow dresses. Check, check, chek and check!

CYNTHIA ROWLEY
A very feminine collection filled with bold prints and sillhouetes. The pants/dress was one more time spotted, could this mean it will be one of the emerging trends? We'll just have to wait and keep on watching..

DOO.RI
This collection was a breath of fresh air, look after look stunning. The one colored look was presented as well as drapped pieces and the "pajamas". And what about that white printed skirt on the right top, isn't it aaamazing?!

 JASON WU
Yet another brilliant collection from Wu. Doesn't matter if you are a girl or a woman, you gotta love this. It looked even farytalish. Hot pants were a big item in this collection, done in such a classy way with bottom up shirts. The embellishments on the garmits were gorgeous.

NAHM
This collection yelled vintage. The shirtdress was the most present piece in it and it came in all this different prints and shapes.

PETER SOM
Awh Peter Som... he wasn't afraid of color at all. The collection was filled with bold colors and prints. Elegant, classic, flawless.

SUNO
The designer's behind Suno are probably the masters in print blocking. Though I was a bit surprised to see such a soft, neude color pallet, I was very pleased with the outcome. A very romantic collection.

YIGAL AZROUEL
I guess one could say a very simple collection. But so beautifully done, with pops of bold colors and classic lines.

SS'12 NY - September 8th

BCBG MAX AZRIA
This collection is very much about "the dress". They strut down the runway with geometric prints and shapes, all flowy and in a bright Vs nude color pallet.

KEVORK KILEDJIAN
Kevork showed for the next spring, summer a collection made in a neutral color pallet wih pops of bright pink. It had a lot of assymetric cuts and the textiles used were all very flowy. Though I liked some of the pieces shown, I also felt that some of them were already done. For example, the bright pink long dress with sleeves (MK)...

KIMBERLY OVITZ
And so the trend continues through SS: One colored looks.

NICHOLAS K
I think that it's no secret that the designer likes layering. Great, once again, one colored look with  a coolness and an easyness attached to it.

TSE
A very clean, chic, classic collection with a few twists making it extremely modern.

VENA CAVA
An unsual way to do a show, the designer duo invited a few friends to model their clothes. And let me tell you, these clothes were exquisite. Beautiful shapes and patterns with a kinda vintage feel to it. Oh and I also loved the shoes used through out the whole collection (and for those who haven't noticed yet, I'm pretty picky when it comes to shoes).

WES GORDON
A very glamorous collection, with statement pieces. The cut of the garmits is beautifully done. Adn I want the snake shorts asap. Thanks!

SS'12 NY - September 7th

JENNI KAYNE

Described by the designer as "Country-club chic combined with urban athleticism", this collection is super clean, not too many accessories just simple clothes for the everyday woman. Modern and classic, I personally would pretty much wear every piece of it.

ORGANIC BY JOHN PATRICK

A very "simple" collection, and what I mean by simple is that although it only showed 13 looks, from them you could have your basic pieces (exquisitly cuted) for a stylish spring/summer.

RACHEL COMEY

This collection with a very neutral pallet, was flowy as it had very straight lines, with constructed pieces. It was a nice combination of soft and hard.

SACHIN + BABI

A very girly collection. Black&White with some pop of colors of pink, blue and golden/yellow. Not in love with the shoes though....

STEVEN ALAN

Aw I love! There I said it and I won't take it back. It was extremely hard to pick a few pieces to post, because honestely the whole collection is great. From the vintage, to the girly naiveness.. I want.

Les Vacances

I guess my vacations have turned into "blogging vacations" also, sorry about that! I'm going tomorrow to another portuguese summer festival, this time to Paredes de Coura, I'll try my best to take some good pictures and share them with you later on.

For now I'll leave you with a picture on my summer house in the north of Portugal, Viana do Castelo.

Hope you're having a wonderful time as I am!

Love,
G.
